Our Editor in Chief profiles her favorite places to go when seeking a salon re-up in LA—three must-try destinations.

11714 San Vicente Boulevard, Brentwood

This Brentwood spot offers not only a solid mani/pedi, but also features a shop with their collection of “five-free” polishes: The name refers to five harmful chemicals, like formaldehyde, typically found in nail polish. Founders Mary Lennon and Leah Yari set out to take all toxins out of the nailcare experience, both through product and ambience. Côte features five indoor stations, six outdoor stations, iPad entertainment systems and hammocks (!) for the ultimate relaxation experience. Manicures in the beach-house inspired space start at $20—And if that isn’t enough to convince you, my manicure lasted me up to 2 weeks, chip-free.

Classi manicure $20, pedicure $26

Luxe manicure $35, pedicure $45

Here at Friend of a Friend, we’re huge advocates of always using SPF. And since NYC doesn’t exactly offer pristine tanning conditions year-round, I turn to Chocolate Sun to give me that extra glow. The spray tan service’s uses an airbrush method to carefully cover the skin, paying attention to all the problem areas like palms, wrists, underarms, and ankles that are typically ignored in lower-qual spray tans. Chocolate Sun also uses a formula packed with antioxidants and aloe, so my skin stays hydrated and glowing without streaking off after a few days. And! No spray-stained sheet or unpleasant post-tan odor. A word of advice: Apply a moisturizing lotion morning and night to keep you that “natural” glow looking very natural for well over a week.

A new addition to the LA beauty scene, The Now is my favorite place to unwind and disconnect. Founders Erica Malbon and Amy Krofchick have created “a sanctuary within the city,” channeling the tranquility of Tulum to create a minimalist, chic massage parlor that’s easy on both the eyes and the soul. With eight signature massages, The Now offers budget-friendly treatments ($35 each!) for a perfect day off—or even during your lunch break—with add-ons like aromatherapy, eye masks, and detox treatments. Treatments take place in private, candlelit cabanas complete with calming music and Jiva Apoha scents to lull you into total bliss. Go for the Baby Jiva Body Oil (lavender and chamomile). I promise, it’s worth it.

Schedule a massage on their website. Walk-ins are also welcome.

30-minute $35, 60-minute $60, 85-minute $85
