Beauty on the Go Travel Skin Care Tips

Every girl has a rulebook of skincare do's and don'ts. One of my biggest don'ts: makeup on a plane. A combination of the dry conditions on an airplane with a layer of foundation is the recipe for a perfect breakout storm. But even when I leave the makeup off, I always find myself breaking out from the recycled oxygen and overall anxiety of a travel day. We turned to the pro's at Epicuren to get a few tips to help us get off the plane just as beautiful as we got on so you can go makeup free this holiday. Take notes - you'll want to add these to your rulebook:

Pre Trip Prep
Before a trip I always like to refine my skin with my seasonal favorite exfoliator. Right now I am loving the Pumpkin Apple Spice Peel. It's gentle, effective, and the scent is incredible. I always follow up with Epicuren’s Hydrating Mineral Mask. These two steps will remove dead skin and replenish vital minerals and hydration to the skin necessary when exposed to climate change. Your skin will be prepped, glowing and ready to go anywhere!

Handbag Essentials
I always make sure to keep three go-to products in my handbag at all times and especially when I travel. Epicuren’s Anti-Aging Lip Balm - to keep lips moisturized and protected. The Kukui Coconut After Bath Moisturizer to use on hands, arms and any other exposed areas. This vacation in a bottle locks in moisture and keeps skin supple and soft. And finally my absolute must-must-have, the Colostrum Mist - a light moisturizing mist that houses life-supporting immune factors, amino acids, and antioxidants.

Hydrate Internally
I always make sure to double up on my water pre and post flight to make sure I stay hydrated. If flying, the first thing I do once I get through the security check point is head to the nearest snack bar or news stand and grab a bottle of water so I don’t have to wait until served on the plane.

Stay Protected
Something most people don't think about, is to apply a sunscreen right before a flight. When flying at high altitudes, you are closer to the sun and thus closer to its harmful rays, especially if you are seated at a window. Airlines now use sun shields in the cockpit to protect pilots from sun exposure. My favorite is Epicuren's X-treme Cream SPF 45+. The Propolis & olive oil base keeps my skin glowing and moisturized during my flight plus provides protection against UVA and UVB rays. If my flight is more than 2 hours, I always make sure to reapply.
