As a journalist, I’m inspired by human stories. I find inspiration everywhere – the corner store in my neighborhood, to people on Instagram, to incredible creatives like Spike Lee. Lee is a storytelling hero. He finds the stories untold, peeling back the curtain on everyday characters and bringing their narratives to life in an authentic, relatable way.
For the first short film series of Uber’s new Uber Presents, Uber partnered with Lee to highlight the lives and hustles of five Brooklyn-based Uber driver-partners – Malka, Domingo, Keith, Rodney, and Sunny. From a single mother to an actress, each subject dives into what their hustle is all about and how they’re using Uber to accomplish their goals.
For me, Uber has allowed me to define my hustle. I’ve been working for myself since I was 20 years old, so I trained myself at an early age to be addicted to it. I’m up at 6am, out the door by 8am, and running around New York to meetings, finding new experiences, and interacting with some of the most inspiring people in the world on a daily basis. I use Uber as my mobile office, allowing me to accomplish my to-do list from the back seat, navigate my schedule through the click of a button, and meet some of hustling driver-partners along the way.
Everyone has their own hustle, but there’s nothing that inspires me more than sharing our hustles together. There’s so much to learn from what motivates your peers on a day-to-day basis. No matter what your job is, find your own hustle, live it, and inspire others to find their own, because we all want to reach the finish line together.
