Rumi Neely’s Guide To LA Rumi Neely’s Best LA Eats

May 17, 2016

You may know her as the proto-blogger—one of the very first fashionistas from the digital vanguard. But since the online boon, Rumi Neely has set her sights on bigger and better projects. Right now, it's her cool-girl clothing line Are You Am I. But there's more to her than great clothes (and we mean great, if you haven't checked them out already). We asked the LA resident for her favorite spots from the perfect date spot to the best rose latte.

Faith and Flower

705 W 9th St, DTLA

Classic American options with a romantic twist. Faith and Flower is perfect for that early evening oyster round and glass of rosé. Multiple things are served on toast, the cocktail list will make you feel like maybe you haven't seen it all, and there's something for every level of hunger.

Pez Cantina

401 S Grand Ave, Bunker Hills

I'm somehow constantly in the mood for chips and guacamole, so this was automatically a yes. But you'll stay for the more creative menu options—dirty horchata? Habanero mustard? K.

Zinc Cafe and Market

580 Mateo Street, Arts District

A spacious market style cafe with one of the cutest outdoor patio spaces in downtown LA. I love it for breakfast and lunch, but there's also a bar all the way in the back. Literally lacking nothing.

Rubies+Diamonds

6115 Sunset Blvd, Hollywood

Located in between Sweetgreen and Sugarfish, Rubies+Diamonds is as innovative as it is actually good. Try the rose vanilla latte or the sea salt cold brew with coconut whipped cream—just as delicious as they sound.

Grandpa Johnson's

1638 N Cahuenga Blvd, Hollywood

An unassuming entrance is usually part and parcel when it comes to the best bars. I love Grandpa Johnson's for the vibe as much as the drinks. Art deco-inspired with a massive marble bar and mirrors everywhere, Grandpa Johnson's is glam enough to be from a different time. Just how I like it.

Terrine

8265 Beverly Blvd, West Hollywood

Terrine is pure romance—one of my favorite date night spots. Trees laced with lights set the mood on the patio and the sommelier knows what she’s doing. Make sure to request to sit outside and order a few plates to share, ‘cause it's all good here.
