New York is heating up, and so is its food scene. From Israeli-inspired plates to the new must-try burger in town, here are three restaurants to add to your to-do list.
509 East 6th Street
The new East Village restaurant will teleport you out of Manhattan and beachside just in time for summer. From previous chef de cuisine of Charlie Bird, Out East features a seafood-focused menu with bites like duck breast with hazelnut and a black bass carpaccio. The two story restaurant boasts two bar spaces, an open glass atrium, and a millennial pink-inspired dining room - something for everyone.
34 East 20th Street
One of Israel’s most beloved chef’s, Meir Adoni, opened his first restaurant in the US with partner Gadi Peleg (of Breads Bakery). Nur aims to modernize Middle Eastern cuisine, so you won’t find falafel or hummus on the menu. Instead, plates like Palestinian tartare, gefilte shrimp, and spiced lamb serve as nods to Adoni’s Moroccan-Mediterranean background with no compromise to Manhattan taste buds. Plus, four bread options because you’re going to need something to wipe the plate clean with.
210 10th Ave
The Manhattan staple was recently re-opened with a major re-vamp. Chef John DeLucie and the team behind Cafeteria and The Waverly Inn have re-imagined the Chelsea space (its fourth try in ten years), serving elevated takes on the classic American diner menu. The latest iteration pays homage to the ever-changing culture of Chelsea’s art district with 80’s art-deco accents inside and its landmark facade untouched. If only every diner served pretzel fried chicken and braised short ribs….
